Our Story.

The team here at Premium Bhutan has been working in and with Bhutan for many years - ever since 2006 in fact. We’ve always wanted to focus on the connection between health and the environment, and Bhutan has been the perfect place for that, with its strong focus on the environment and on sustainability of the country & its resources.

Our vision has been to use our contacts in and outside of Bhutan to create strong, meaningful relationships with trusted partners across a range of products & services. We’ve also partnered with charities that aim to improve the quality of life for Bhutanese people - partnerships we’re very proud of.

We’re about bringing a selection of Bhutan’s best health & wellness products to the UK and European markets, and look forward to you enjoying them as much as we do!

Why Bhutan.

As one of the naturally most beautiful regions on Earth, Bhutan is nestled in the heart of the majestic Himalayas. With leviathans such as China, India, and Bangladesh bordering it to the north, west, south and east, Bhutan is a landlocked country which whilst small in size, is one of the most sustainability-focused nations in the world.

With a population of only around 1 million inhabitants, Bhutan is a monarchy which has committed itself to build its nation in the most sustainable manner possible. The country’s constitution states that at least 60% of the country must remain forested ‘in perpetuity’ for example, and the leadership committed at the 2010 Copenhagen Summit to forever remain a net carbon sink. Bhutan has even committed further, to its agricultural production being 100% organic.

Added to the focus on sustainability, the government and the King established a new metric to measure the happiness of Bhutan’s population - taking ‘Gross National Happiness’ instead of ‘Gross National Product’ as a key indicator for economic growth has driven Bhutan and its leaders to look at what is most beneficial for the people and their future rather than purely focus on immediate economic gains.

In short, the Kingdom of Bhutan takes its responsibilities to its people and to the people of the world seriously - sustainability and responsibility to future generations are key mantras, and the government’s focus on the happiness of its people a key driver.

Giving Back.

Sustainability is important to us, so we’ve taken action to ensure that we both give back to Bhutan, and that we offset our global carbon emissions. We donate 5% of all net profits from our Premium Bhutan product sales to locally accredited Bhutanese charities that we know & trust, and also plant 1 tree for the sale of each bottle through Earthly.org - one of the most effective ways for businesses to invest in the fight against climate change, helping us to balance our carbon impact and to become climate-positive…
